Pemanfaatan Diplomasi Publik oleh Indonesia dalam Krisis Covid-19

Munculnya krisis akibat penyebaran Covid-19 telah memaksa tiap-tiap negara untuk menentukan solusi penanganan yang cepat dan tepat. Adanya keterbatasan masing-masing negara akhirnya memunculkan kerja sama di berbagai bidang. First-track diplomacy pun semakin meningkat, meskipun dilakukan secara virtual. Berdasarkan fenomena tersebut, apakah diplomasi publik dapat pula dimanfaatkan untuk mendukung upaya penanggulangan krisis akibat Covid-19? Untuk menjawab pertanyaan tersebut, penulis menggunakan konsep diplomasi publik sebagai manajemen krisis yang disampaikan oleh Claudia Auer dan Eva-Karin Olsson. Dengan menggunakan kedua konsep tersebut, penulis berpendapat bahwa diplomasi publik dapat dimanfaatkan untuk mendukung upaya penanggulangan krisis akibat Covid-19 melalui make sense of event, networking, dan craft message and event. Penanganan krisis dengan diplomasi publik pun dapat menghasilkan beberapa manfaat, antara lain mempromosikan nilai-nilai yang dapat meningkatkan stabilitas negara, menciptakan saling pengertian dan memperbaiki kesalahpahaman serta membangun reputasi. Dalam tulisan ini, Taiwan dan Georgia menjadi contoh negara yang berhasil menghadapi krisis dengan memanfaatkan diplomasi publik. Maka dari itu, penulis berpendapat bahwa pemerintah Indonesia pun dapat memanfaatkan diplomasi publik untuk mendukung penanggulangan krisis akibat Covid-19.
