Review Policy
All manuscripts submitted to Jurnal RISA (Riset Arsitektur) undergo a two-stage review process: Desk Review and Double-Blind Peer Review. This process ensures that all published articles meet the journal’s academic standards, scope, and ethical requirements.
Desk Review (Initial Editorial Evaluation)
Every submitted manuscript is first reviewed internally by the editorial team. The following criteria are assessed during this stage:
-
Scope alignment: The manuscript must fall within Jurnal RISA’s scope: (1) History, Theory, and Philosophy of Architecture; (2) Housing and Settlement; (3) Architecture and Urban Design; and (4) Building Technology and Management.
-
Plagiarism check: All submitted manuscripts are screened using plagiarism detection software (e.g., Turnitin). A manuscript will be rejected if it exceeds a 20% overall similarity index, or if any single source contributes more than 5% similarity. Only original content will be considered for peer review.
-
Reference analysis: Authors must meet the following reference requirements:
-
Minimum of 20 references.
-
At least 50% must be from the last 5 years.
-
At least 50% of the references must be primary sources—materials that directly relate to research such as journal articles, conference proceedings, thesis or disertations—and must include identifiers such as DOI.
-
References must follow APA Style.
-
-
Structural compliance:
-
Article must follow the IMRaD format.
-
Word count between 4000–6000 words.
-
A maximum of 12 figures and tables combined.
-
Submission must use the official journal template.
-
-
Submission checklist: All required fields and components must be completed.
Manuscripts that fail to meet the desk review criteria may be rejected or returned to the author for revision before entering the peer review process.
2. Double-Blind Peer Review
Manuscripts that pass the desk review are sent to two reviewers for a double-blind peer review. Both the reviewers and authors remain anonymous throughout the process.
Reviewers assess the manuscript based on originality, relevance, methodological rigor, contribution to the field, and overall clarity.
After receiving reviewer feedback, the editorial team makes a decision on the manuscript:
-
Accepted
-
Minor Revision
-
Major Revision
-
Rejected
Authors will be informed of the decision along with reviewer comments. Revised manuscripts may undergo an additional round of review if necessary.
Editorial Decision
The Editor-in-Chief and the Editorial Board hold final responsibility for deciding which articles are accepted for publication in Jurnal RISA. All decisions are based on the reviewers’ recommendations, the originality of the research, and the article’s alignment with the journal’s goals.
